How EV finance works
Getting started with EV finance is straightforward. You tell us what you need, and from there you are in the hands of experienced brokers who do the heavy lifting. No runarounds, no guesswork, just a clear process from start to finish.
Tell us what you need
Start by filling out a short enquiry. We will ask for the basics: what type of EV you are looking at, roughly what it costs, whether it is for personal or business use, and a bit about your financial situation.
This is not a full application. Think of it as a conversation starter. It gives the broker enough to work with when they get in touch.
Start your enquirySpeak with a broker
This is the important step, and it is one we do not skip. A qualified finance broker contacts you to have a proper conversation about your situation. They want to understand your budget and what repayments you are comfortable with, whether you are buying for personal use, through a business, or via an ABN, how long you want the finance term to be, and whether there are any specific circumstances the lender needs to know about.
This is where the value is. A broker who understands your situation can match you with a lender and a finance structure that actually fits, rather than just pushing you toward whatever is quickest.
Your broker shops around
Once the broker understands what you need, they go to work. With access to a wide panel of lenders, they compare options and look for the best fit. That might be a chattel mortgage, a finance lease, a consumer loan, or something else entirely, depending on your circumstances.
Some lenders are better suited to certain situations but have longer turnaround times because they have smaller teams. Your broker will explore those options rather than defaulting to whatever is fastest. The goal is the right deal, not just the quickest one.
There is no obligation to proceed with any option presented to you.
Approval and settlement
Once you are happy with the finance option, your broker handles the rest. They manage the application, liaise with the lender, and keep you updated throughout. When everything is approved, they coordinate settlement so you can get behind the wheel.
The whole process is designed to be as smooth as possible. Most of it happens over the phone and online, no need to visit an office.
What you will need
To get things moving, your broker will typically ask for:
- Photo ID (driver's licence or passport)
- Proof of income (recent payslips, tax returns, or business financials)
- ABN details (if applying through a business)
- Details of the EV you want to buy (make, model, price, dealer or seller)
- A general picture of your monthly expenses
You can upload all of this straight from your phone. No printing, no scanning, no posting documents. Just snap a photo or forward a PDF and you are sorted.
